AKP551 ring and Weihnachten lied

Postitus Postitas Edward Gary »

Good day, Gentlemen.

Recently I acquired this ring of Armee-Kraftfahr-Park 551 together with a 1941 Christmas leaflet of the same unit.
Looks like leaflet was printed in "Koit" printing house in Narva.
AKP551 was part of 18th Army, Army Group North. In 1941 it moved from France to East and participated in invasion of Soviet Union. Probably Kraftfahr Park stationed behind main forces, in Estonia in the end of 1941.

Thought it may be interesting.
Edvard

Good day Gentlemen.
Here is one more ring from my collection I wanted to show You.
German ring with Sd.Kfz.135 'Marder I' on the front plate. To day only 2 examples are known to exist and this is one of those 2 (other is in relic condition). Note that the ringband on this one is the same as on the ring I showed earlier.
Hard to tell if this ring is attributed to any specific regiment or not (as is the case with AKP551 ring), but Marder I was known to have been in use primarily by Panzerjäger units of Infantry divisions, namely 31. / 35 / 36 / 72 / 206 / 256 / 227 Inf. Div. on Eastern front.

Thanks Edward Gary,

Your leaflet is quite interesting, since current printing house "Koit" in Narva hides
it's previous history and states both in Estonian and in Russian that it was established
in 1946, although there are records that goes way back into the 1940. Strange
behavior from their part...

Huvitaval kombel Koit varjab praegu oma sõjaaegset tegevust.

"Trükikoda “Koit” loodi 1946. aastal. "

Samas allikad lähevad tagasi lausa aastasse 1940.

Huh, very interesting. Thanks for additional information, funker. These scans of Liederbuch from 1941 I have also indicate tha same "Koit" printing house. And it has two stamps on it saying "riigiraamatukogu" which translates to state library as I understand.
