Tere,
Allow me to write in English as it easier for me. My grandfather was Kol. Villem Gustav Marder an Eesti Vabadusristi Kavaler VR I/2. I do not have his medal but at one time did have an associated ring, passed down by my father. An identical ring with the red center, black cross and white glaze background is pictured which is currently from Sõjamuuseum . Recently, I acquired from Sweden a very similar ring, but this one has a black center, white cross and black glazed background. Can anyone tell me the significance of the different colors on the same type of ring.
To also clarify, I am wanting to know
  • How would have the rings been issued?
At the same time as the chest medals?
    To all Vabadusrist holders?
Or did the holders choose to get one voluntarily themselves?
    If so, process?
